How do I add or drop a class?
Before the add or drop/delete and course withdraw deadlines, all the changes to a student's schedule are made through BUSI. To add or drop a class after the respective deadline, you must come to the CCPA or Peer Advising Office and pick up an Undergraduate Late Add/Drop form .
When are the deadlines to add, drop/delete or withdraw from a class?
The deadline to add or drop/delete a course without incurring a “W” is the tenth day of classes. It is also the deadline to change a grade of "audit" to "credit" (normal grading option). The deadline to withdraw from a course is five days after the midpoint of the semester. It is also the deadline to change a grade of "credit" to "audit". To change the grading option (pass/fail or letter grade) of a course after the drop deadline, use the Undergraduate General Academic Petition form available in the Peer Advising Office UDC-413

How many credits can I take per semester?
An undergraduate student can take up to 18 credits per semester without any special action. If an undergraduate student wishes to take more than 18 credit hours, he or she must fill out an Overload Request form available in the Peer Advising Office. Students wishing to take an overload must meet one of the following conditions
- graduation in that semester
- a cumulative GPA of 3.3 or better
- extraordinary circumstances
The completed form should be returned to the department office. Requests for 19-20 credits will be acted on by the department chair. Requests for 21-24 credits will be reviewed by the Academic Standards Committee which meets on a monthly basis.
What courses can I take pass/fail?
CCPA majors may take a maximum of 16 credits of free elective pass/fail. This does not include courses that fulfill general education and major course requirements.
What is the maximum number of Internship/Independent Study courses I can take?
No more than 8 credit-hours in internship/independent study courses can be applied toward the 124 credits required for the degree.
What is the difference between a BA and a BS degree?
Both bachelor of arts degree (BA) and a bachelor of science degree (BS) degree students must earn a minimum of 124 credit-hours. For a BA, 90 credits in liberal arts is required. A BS requires 60 credits in liberal arts courses.
What do I do if I want to minor in a non-CCPA subject?
If a student wishes to minor in any area outside of CCPA, he or she should contact the minor department to discuss the requirements for applying for and completing the minor. The minor will be added by the department and will appear on the student’s DARS report.
How do I minor in Management?
The Adjunct Program is offered by the School of Management for students with appropriate qualifications. Students accepted into the Adjunct Program are allowed to take 24 credit-hours in the School of Management and are given priority at registration equivalent to that of SOM students.
To apply for the Adjunct Program in Management, students must have completed at least 60 credits, including at least one full-time semester at Binghamton University, and must have a cumulative GPA of at least 3.5 in all Binghamton University courses.
How do I pursue a double degree?
Students wishing to enroll in the double-degree option should obtain a form from the Undergraduate Admissions Office (AA-101) or in the Peer Advising Office, UDC-413. Double-degree students must complete 156 credits for the double-degree option.
How do I go about getting a transcript?
The CCPA Advising Office does NOT provide students with any kind of transcripts.
Students can go to the Registrar's Office (SW-119) and request an official or unofficial transcript, or make a request in writing via mail. A signature and social security number are required. No fee is charged for this service.
What is a GPA and how do I compute it?
The grade point average is calculated on a 4.0 system using the following grade-point equivalents:

To calculate your GPA, multiply the number of credits in each course by the equivalent of the letter grade above. Add together the grade points for all the courses taken. Divide the total grade points by the total number of credits for all courses being computed to arrive at your GPA.
What is the Dean's List?
To qualify for the Dean's List at the end of the fall or spring semesters, a student must have a 3.5 or better semester grade-point average and have no missing or Incomplete grades. Recognition is given for each semester in which you meet these criteria and is noted on your transcript.
What is Graduation with Honors?
Students with outstanding academic records receive honors upon graduation. To qualify, you must meet the cumulative grade-point averages specified below, have earned at least 32 credit-hours in CCPA with a normal grading option and have no missing grades or Incompletes.

How do I know who my faculty adviser is?
Matriculated students should consult their DARS form for the name, office location and phone number of their faculty adviser.
