Philanthropy Incubator
About the Philanthropy Incubator
The Philanthropy Incubator was started in the Summer of 2008, with a grant from the Campus Compact Students4Giving program. Dr. David Campbell, professor at the Department of Public Administration of the College of Community and Public Affairs (CCPA) at Binghamton University, envisioned a student-created foundation that would provide grants to local nonprofit organizations that have sponsored CCPA graduate students in their internships or field placements.
In the Fall 2008, through the work of the students enrolled in the Public Administration class, PAFF 551: Nonprofit Management and Administration, the basic organizational structure of the foundation was developed. As part of the course, the students also developed a fundraising plan, with the goal of keeping the Incubator in operation for an additional 3 years.
In Spring 2009, students enrolled in PAFF 552: Issues in Nonprofit Administration, will work on the grant application, criteria and awarding process.
