TITLE: Academic Counselor
The Upward Bound Program at Binghamton University is seeking an Academic Counselor. This is a 12-month, grant-funded, position. Academic Year Responsibilities Include: Visiting target high schools on a weekly basis. Assist in after-school supervision at the UB tutorial center. Provide individual and group counseling/advising for students. Will serve as project liaison with community agencies. Assist in the recruitment and selection of new program participants and staff for summer residential program. Conduct monthly Saturday meetings on campus; Summer Program Responsibilities Include: Assist with staff orientation; supervise evening and weekend activities - may include overnight trips. Provide transportation for students to appointments and meetings as needed. Provide staff supervision and professional/personal support. Tutor and provide academic support to students during study hours and as needed. May be required to live on campus during summer residential program.
Bachelor's degree with a minimum two years full-time counseling, mentoring and/or teaching experience in programs serving low-income/first generation youth from diverse backgrounds. Knowledge of the New York State high school graduation requirements. Knowledge of college admission and financial aid procedures; Good organizational and counseling skills. Must be proficient in the use of computer software and hardware.
Position requires extensive regional/local travel - must provide own transportation, as well as proof of driver's license and automobile insurance.

Cornell University’s Gannett Health Services Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS) is searching for a 10 month clinician specializing in treating the full spectrum of Eating Disorders (ED). Responsibilities include providing assessment, counseling, and group services for students experiencing psychological, psychosocial and developmental difficulties with concurrent ED issues. This position will provide general clinical services through daytime emergency services as well as outreach and support services to students exhibiting eating concerns. The successful candidate will serve as a member of the multidisciplinary Cornell Healthy Eating Program (CHEP) team at Gannett Health Services, responsible for ED clinical services.
Requirements include a Master’s degree with license eligibility, MSW, or doctorate in clinical or counseling psychology or a closely related field; possess and maintain a New York professional license as a social worker, psychologist, or other licensure within two years of employment. Two years' experience in a clinical setting, preferably in a college counseling center with a working knowledge of research literature and current models of ED treatment and prevention in a college setting. Experience with outreach, therapy groups, and psychoeducational interventions, strong assessment skills and the ability to be effective with a broad range of clinical concerns. Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing; experience and demonstrated ability in providing culturally sensitive counseling services to diverse populations and members of traditionally underrepresented groups. Strong interpersonal skills, ability to work effectively in teams and in coordination with other health center and university staff in addressing ED issues.

JOB TITLE: YOUTH WORKER

DEPARTMENT: Boys Group Home; Girls Group Home
POSITION DESCRIPTION: Supervises residents in a Girls or Boys Group homes, either at
the home or in the community. Assists residents with the development of communication,
problem-solving, and social skills through informal counseling, role modeling, and daily
interactions. Monitors residents at all times, including during off-site visits and activities.
Operates and maintains the physical plant, including daily household responsibilities and
monitoring resident’s household tasks. Administers and documents resident’s medication in
accordance with program policy and procedures. Transports residents to scheduled appointments,
recreational activities, home visits, etc. Prepares meals and menus, plans and initiates
recreational activities. Completes all required paperwork for the program. Assesses medical
and/or potential crisis situations and takes appropriate action. Positively represents the program
and the agency at all time. Must perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.
QUALIFICATIONS: Associate degree preferred in human services or related field, with 2
years experience working with adolescents; OR a high school diploma, or equivalent, with 4
years experience working with adolescents, 2 of which should be in a group setting. Or another
r qualified person meeting OCFS regulations. A valid driver’s license with a clean driving
record. Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing. Knowledge
and ability to type Word documents. Ability to coordinate and manage resident and household
schedules. Ability to assess potential crisis situations and take appropriate action. Ability to be an
effective role model for residents. Ability to work as a member of a therapeutic team. Flexibility
to work differing schedules as program dictates. Ability to lift 40 lbs.
