Who can file a FAFSA form | Undergraduate Scholarship Information | Scholarship and Fellowship Information for CCPA Graduate Students
Scholarships are awards, usually modest in amount, for tuition expenses. Varying criteria accompany the scholarships. Some are need-based and require filing by the student of the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) form. It is desirable that FAFSA forms be filed by March 1. Who can file a FAFSA form?
Only U.S. Citizens or any eligible non-citizen can file a FAFSA.
Eligible to file a FAFSA:
- U.S. citizen
- U.S. national (includes natives of American Samoa or Swain’s Island)
- U.S. permanent resident who has an I-151, I-551 or I-551C (Alien Registration Receipt Card)
- Person with Arrival-Departure Record (I-94) from INS showing
- Refugee
- Asylum Granted
- Indefinite Parole and/or Humanitarian Parole
- Cuban-Haitian Entrant, Status Pending
Not eligible to file a FAFSA:
Anyone in the U.S. on:
- F1 or F2 student visa
- J1 or J2 exchange visitor visa
- G series visa
Scholarship applications, where required, must be submitted by April 1 to the CCPA Scholarship Committee, College of Community and Public Affairs, PO Box 6000, Binghamton, NY 13902-6000. They may also be delivered to the CCPA Dean's Office, UDC-333 or submitted electronically to the Scholarship Committee. For more information, call the CCPA Dean's Office, 607-777-5572.
Scholarship Information for Undergraduate Students in Human Development
Several scholarships are available to undergraduate CCPA students. Applicants must be matriculated in CCPA or accepted for admission, be enrolled for part-time or full-time study, and be in good academic standing. These scholarships are for tuition expenses.
Students applying for need-based awards must complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) form. It is recommended that FAFSA forms be filed no later than March 1.
UNDERGRADUATE STUDENT SCHOLARSHIPS
The Constance Coiner Undergraduate Senior Scholarship
Awarded to a matriculated undergraduate student who will be a senior in the fall semester. Selected by Human Development faculty committee. Application required.
Requirements:
- Application
- At least one faculty statement of support
- Matriculated, undergraduate senior
- 3.0 GPA or higher
- Demonstrated community and/or extracurricular involvement in activities related to social change
- 1000-1250 word essay
The Roger L. and Mary F. Kresge CCPA Scholarships
Awarded to matriculated undergraduate students with demonstrated financial need. Selected by Human Development Faculty Committee. Application and FASFA Form required.
Requirements:

- Good academic standing
- Broome County resident who graduated from a Broome County high school or lived in Broome County for two or more years with a commitment to being an active resident
- Planning a career working with children or young adults
GRADUATE STUDENT SCHOLARSHIPS/FELLOWSHIPS/FIELD PLACEMENT AWARDS
Barnes and Noble Scholarship
Scholarships are available to graduate students matriculated in or admitted to the Department of Social Work and the Department of Public Administration. Selected by faculty committee. No application required.
Hartford Partnership Program for Aging Education Field Placements
Awarded to two concentration-year and two new (foundation year and/or advanced standing) graduate students enrolled in the Department of Social Work. Recipients will receive a stipend and tuition support. Selected by the Department of Social Work. Returning students, contact Jennifer Marshall for application. Applications due February 15. New students, contact Brian J. Flynn for application. Applications due April 1, 2008.
Rector Scholarship
Awarded to a graduate student enrolled in the Department of Social Work with demonstrated financial need. Selected by Department of Social Work faculty. No application required. FASFA Form required.

- Matriculated in the Department of Social Work
- Full- or part-time student with a minimum of 4 credit hours
Stewart W. and Wilma C. Hoyt Foundation Field Placements
Awarded to two concentration-year graduate students enrolled in the Department of Social Work. Recipients will receive a stipend and tuition support. Selected by the Department of Social Work. Contact Jennifer Marshall for application. Applications due February 15.
UNDERGRADUATE AND GRADUATE STUDENT SCHOLARSHIPS
The College of Community and Public Affairs Scholarships
Awarded to matriculated students with demonstrated financial need. Selected by CCPA Scholarship Committee. Application and FASFA Form required.

The Maureen C. White Adult Learner Scholarships
Awarded to matriculated students age 25 years or older with demonstrated financial need. Selected by CCPA Scholarship Committee. Application and FASFA Form required.

- 25 years of age or older
Fellowships
Fellowships generally include a tuition scholarship and a stipend.
The Clifford D. Clark Minority Fellowships
Awarded to outstanding minority students from groups historically underrepresented in the University's graduate and professional programs. Awards are given to full-time students who are Native American Indian, African American or Hispanic American, are U.S. citizens or have permanent resident status, and are newly admitted to a graduate program unit.
